Nokia Cell Phones quietly released a new phone, one that is carving out its own path on the for technology savvy cell phones. In a world where the smartphone is becoming the cell phone of the future and where competition is getting more and more cramped, the Nokia 5330 TV Edition Phone has gone its own route of success. Nokia will let the competition surround its newest member instead of going into an already intense fight for the elusive number one smartphone label.

The idea behind the Nokia 5330 is very simple: watch live television on your phone. The phone is equipped with DVB-H technology that allows easy access to live television shows that can be watched on the 2.4 inch QVGA crystal clear screen in full-color. Within its frequency, the 5330 allows for one click access to live TV broadcasts. It also has an innovative electronic program guide that allows for users to make personal channel listings. In addition, it broadcasts picture quality that is supported by a built-in antenna that can connect to a headset. Thus, the reception quality is remarkable.

So there you have it, a phone that is now your TV when away from TV. It even will remind you of your favorite TV shows before they air so you never miss out. But it's not simply a personal TV for on the go. No it also supports a number of social networking sites including Facebook, Myspace and Youtube. Instant messaging is also supported with Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger. In addition, it has a 3.2 megapixel camera with an LED flash and 4x zoom and an MP3 Player with access to the Nokia music store. Yes, the phone has set the bar quite high for Multimedia phones and smartphones to come.

It is innovation like that of the Nokia 5330 that continues to make the cell phone industry so interesting. It would certainly seem that this phone would be a big hit as cell phone technology is at an all time high and TV always seems to be a popular escape for many. So it seems like a natural electronic marriage, but only time will tell. However, it is apparent that innovations such as these will not stop anytime soon. Every time I am floored by one idea it seems a new one has already trumped it. While it's hard to keep up with it all, it is nonetheless exciting.
